The General Warehouses have changed from being a simple storage point to being a container for advanced services, able to offer services for intermodal railroad operations, refrigerated storage (65,000 cubic meters), warehouses for large bulk and various merchandise (38,000 square meters), dewaxing system, wrapping and palletising systems and a complete range of services for shippers and goods
handlers.
They cover an area of 385.000 square meters, with 58,000 square meters of covered area.
A bimodal train service is working, held by the BTZ Company (Bayerische Trailerzug Gesellschaft mbH).

 The main sections are Munich-Hamburg twice a week and daily/working day Verona-Cologne, both running through the Brenner Pass.
The concept of bimodal train is that the trailer can be, as the situation dictates, either a truck trailer or a rail road wagon.
This is an optimal combination and constitutes an intelligent alternative in freight transport.
It is an innovate system (no terminals are necessary, risks of damage are limited, no wagons are required), economical (bimodal trains reduce occupied space to the minimum) and ecological (energy saving, reduced need for infrastructures)
